Stevenson House, Near Haddington: A Truly Remarkable Restoration
We were privileged to work with Ray and Anita Andreson Green on the sensitive and inspiring restoration of Stevenson House, a historic residence nestled near Haddington, East Lothian.
Although it’s been more than twenty years since its transformation, this project remains one of the most celebrated and meaningful undertakings in our practice.
Steeped in over five centuries of history, Stevenson House had sadly fallen into decline following its use by the Polish Army during World War II. By the time we became involved, it was partially unoccupied, visibly tired, and at risk of further deterioration.
Thanks to the vision of our remarkable clients, the contribution of the finest interior designer in Willa, and a shared commitment to preserving the building’s character, Stevenson House was reborn—carefully restored and thoughtfully reimagined as a truly exceptional home.
We wish Rettie & Co every success in finding a new owner who will cherish this extraordinary home, and take pride in its unique legacy and architectural beauty.

We were delighted to be invited to engage with Martin & Dawn in their on line interview with their overseas marketing agents Gilezan Global . Locally they are represented by Rettie &Co with Knight Frank. It has been for them a very special home but reluctantly with the family now growing up, it is time to move on. Our Client has the best of both worlds in their newly refurbished New Town property! The classic Georgian proportions and detailing have been retained in the principal rooms, which have been refurbished with an eye for contemporary design. Awards Evening at Scottish Home Awards 2017

Last night we attended the awards evening at Scottish Home Awards 2017 held at the Hilton Glasgow, with Lorn inviting Roddy of HES Ltd, project client Lisa & her friend Lynne along to the event. Our Edinburgh Kinnear Road development project was a finalist in the Renovation of the Year category sponsored by Wolffe. We were up against some great projects in this years category. Hoping to win our 4th Home Award it was sadly not to be. We are still very proud of this finished project. Congratulations to all of this years winners. We will be back next year.

Site Update: St Andrews Townhouse

Construction work is continuing to progress with the restoration and extension of our St Andrews townhouse project. Main contractor Alexander Oastler have dropped and cleared the scaffolding from the main street now works have been completed on restoring the front elevation. The rear extension has been making progress towards the internal fit out with the zinc cladding and window installation now complete. The large ground floor glazed screen will provide direct access from the kitchen, living & dining area to the patio and garden while the first floor drawing room picture window will provide views out to sea.
