Director

Lorn Macneal

I have been practicing architecture now for more than thirty years. Some people tell me I am getting quite good at it, I do hope so! My greatest pride is the confidence in our team who must take full credit for our extraordinary range of projects that have given so much pleasure to so many clients. My role is now increasingly to draw back, consult, support, and delegate, allowing me a little more time to slip off and play golf in St Andrews.

WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND!

The conversion of the Drummond Hotel into an upper and lower town house in 1988 was one of Lorn’s very early development enterprises, and indeed one of several hotels including the Nelson, The Royal Circus, New Town, and Edward’s and Gloucester that we successfully converted into residential use.  The conversion of the Drummond was poignant for Lorn being his local spot with its spectacular aspect overlooking the tennis courts from its unique third storey conservatory.  After sensitively restoring it into two homes, he was delighted to sell the upper house to Kirsty McGregor, and now, thirty years on, has just completed the renovation for his dear friend in her present […]

25 BELGRAVE CRESCENT – A GREAT OPPORTUNITY

Savills present a rare opportunity to acquire two interconnected apartments, Flats 3 & 4, at 25 Belgrave Crescent. This property could be altered to form one of the most stunning apartments in Edinburgh. As outlined in the sketch drawings which we prepared a few years ago, our initial thoughts were: With a stunning triple aspect, including views to the Pentland Hills, and a rare south-facing balcony, this is undoubtedly one of the finest locations in Victorian Edinburgh. We would be delighted to discuss with an interested party how the apartments could be sensitively altered to become one of Edinburgh’s finest homes.
